Before the start of January’s Third Friday, the Chamber helped welcome a brand new, non-profit organization – “1 Year to Empowerment.” Developed by Dr. Samantha L. Scott and Dr. Adeline SC Tryon, psychologists at The Child & Family Center, the program is a year-long and is designed to enable teenage girls on the Eastern Shore to make healthy choices, trusting friendship and attainable goals all while volunteering within the community. One activity per month targets mental and physical wellness while promoting acceptance, commitment, perseverance and empowerment among young women. 1 Year is located in the old Junior Achievement office in the Greater Salisbury Building downtown.
