Salisbury, MD, April 21, 2023 – is the next 3rd Friday in Downtown Salisbury, with artists and crafters lining the streets, live music outside, and tons of special activities. This month’s theme is Spring Things, and it’s a chance to celebrate the warming weather, new growth, and all things spring! There will be flower planting crafts for kids, baby animals and pony rides with Funny Farm Petting Zoo, art shows, plant swaps and more!
Springtime wouldn’t be complete without a focus on plants and animals. Funny Farm Petting Zoo will be back this year on Main Street with baby animals and barnyard friends that everyone can enjoy, with pony rides available at an extra charge. Plant lovers can participate in the Downtown Salisbury Visitor Center’s Houseplant Propagation Swap, where cuttings can be traded between other local house plant enthusiasts. Kids can enjoy planting crafts with the SU Honors College students and take-home pollinator seed bombs. Breathe Interiors will also be hosting a Make Your Own Miniature Terrariums pop-up tent outside of their store on N. Division Street, with options for faux moss terrariums and living, succulent terrariums.
The N. Division Street stage will have lots to enjoy with live music from Permilla Project from 5 – 8 p.m. The stage will also host a springtime preview performance by the Salisbury Childrens Choir at 5:40 p.m. followed by a Trash Fashion Show hosted by the Salisbury University Environmental Students Association. Models from the Salisbury School and Salisbury University will showcase beautiful, hand-made garments made completely out of recycled materials to inspire us all to rethink the trash we throw out each day.
Art lovers should be sure to stop by Salisbury Art Space and Salisbury University Art Galleries to enjoy brand new exhibitions at each location. Salisbury Art Space is hosting the opening reception for “Life Through the Lens”, a photography exhibition sponsored by The Whaley Family Foundation. “Life Through the Lens” explores life from different perspectives through the eyes of photographers local and abroad, with winning selections judged by Jesse Halpern of UMES and Jesse James Photography.
