SALISBURY, MD –  May 20, 2022 is the next 3rd Friday in Downtown Salisbury, with artists and crafters lining the streets, live music outside and loads of special activities. This month’s theme is Wheels, with everything from pottery wheels and hula hoops to skateboards, bicycles and souped-up cars.  Art and hobbies collide this 3rd Friday, so get ready for a night of art, entertainment and fun.

On Main Street, check out the 3rd Friday Car Show with our community’s coolest cars of all styles and varieties competing for prizes and one amazing trophy.   3rd Friday coincides with Bike to Work Day and the City of Salisbury is celebrating with prize giveaways and a complimentary bike valet hosted by Salisbury’s B-PAC – Bicycle Pedestrian Advisory Committee. The Get Ramped Pop-Up Skate Park will be back on N. Division Street, open to all ages and skill levels, just bring your own helmet and legal guardian if you’re under 18 years old.  Lurking Class Skate Shop will be hosting a second skate zone on Main Street for more advanced riders, see store for access wristbands.

Salisbury Art Space will be hosting the opening reception for the United Way’s Lower Shore Addiction Awareness Art Competition.  This moving exhibition showcases student art entries from 6th grade to 12th grade students in Dorchester, Somerset, Wicomico and Worcester Counties with opioid addiction awareness and recovery as the subject matter.  Winners will be announced during the reception, and resource information will be available to help “break the wheel” of addiction in our community.

Salisbury University Art Galleries will also be hosting an opening reception for the all new exhibition “Jinsoon Oh:  Dreams of Being” – showcasing a mix of ceramic works and paintings by the Salisbury-based artist and poet.  Throughout her life, Jinsoon has drawn inspiration from the natural environment, and her artistic evolution into poetic narratives allowed her to discover a new language in painting.  Her imaginative elements and surreal approach engage her audience in a way that poetry would. “Jinsoon Oh: On Dreams of Being” will be on display at Salisbury University Art Galleries | Downtown through June 18th, 2022.

Looking for live entertainment?  The Pete Bozick Variant will be keeping things funky fresh with live music outside on the N. Division Stage.   Revival, Downtown’s newest performing arts venue, is hosting a Broadway Cabaret with some of the area’s finest talents performing all your musical favorites from Wicked, Shrek, Aladdin, Frozen and more.  Big Brothers and Big Sisters of the Eastern Shore will be hosting another round of Bigs Bingo, and The Mud Hud Clay Art Studio is hosting a free Late 90’s and Early 2000’s Art Exhibition and Karaoke night, complete with face painting for the kids and live pottery wheel demos.
