Salisbury, MD: 3rd Friday is pleased to announce its return to Downtown Salisbury, with a socially-distanced, shopping-focused event on August 21, 2020. The event will not feature live music, or additional activities, but will instead focus on providing retail opportunities for local artisans and non-profits. An online virtual event will also be held, for those who choose to stay safer at home, complete with artist highlights and messages from the community.
This month’s 3rd Friday will have a Water World theme, and will take place on N. Division Street from Camden Street by Mogan’s Oyster House down to Church Street by Cake Art, and also down one block of Main Street to Court Street. Vendor booths will be distanced 10 feet apart, and hand sanitizing stations will be provided. Facemasks are required, and visitors are asked to maintain 6 feet social distance whenever possible. Parking and road closures can be expected in the area between 2 p.m. and 3 p.m.
Visitors are encouraged to explore some of the many changes going on in Downtown Salisbury. Check out the latest construction progress on the Plaza, or pick up a Public Art Walking Tour pamphlet, made available online and at 3rd Friday to explore the many works of art downtown. Wicomico Public Libraries is excited to debut it’s all new Salisbury StoryWalk® – a series of interchangeable story boards that begin in front of the Library and then cross over Market Street and run along the Riverwalk to the end where it meets Route 13. It’s first story, “Chadwick and the Garplegrungen” follows Chadwick the Crab as he leaves his home at the National Aquarium in Baltimore to help clean up the pollution in the Chesapeake Bay, written by Priscilla Cummings, illustrated by A.R. Cohen. The Salisbury StoryWalk was created by Wicomico Public Libraries and funded by The Chesapeake Bay Trust and the City of Salisbury.
