Salisbury, MD – The City of Salisbury’s Arts, Business and Culture Department is gearing up for the outdoor 3rd Friday season, and there’s a theme for everyone, along with some updates for 2024. Third Friday is a free arts event featuring vendors, live music and activities held in Downtown Salisbury on the third Friday of each month from 5-8 p.m.
The outdoor season themes announced today include:
- April 19 – Sustainable Spring
- May 17 – Paw Prints
- June 21 – Wheely Fun
- July 19 – Urban Artscapes
- Aug. 16 – Ye Olde Downtown
- Sept. 20 – The September 3rd Friday falls during the Maryland Folk Festival, which will take place in Downtown Salisbury.
- Oct. 18 – Superheroes
- Nov. 15 – Yeehaw – Time Warp
There are also other updates coming to 3rd Fridays in 2024. A new layout will feature two music performances; a “Shopping District” featuring art and craft vendors, cottage food vendors and Downtown businesses; and a nonprofit area at Unity Square; with activities in between. Unity Square will also be the “Entertainment District” and feature live music, performances and activities. Volunteers also have new recognition opportunities and will be able to earn a collectible enamel pin for volunteering.
The vendor process has also changed with the growth of 3rd Friday over the years. Prospective vendors will register on the 3rd Friday website via Active to become an approved vendor and will then also gain the opportunity to vend at additional Arts, Business and Culture Department events. Vendors who RSVP monthly on the 3rd Friday website via Active will gain vehicle load-in early access from 3-4 p.m. and have reserved spaces; afterward, “first-come, first-served” vendors can set up from 4-5 p.m. Registration links are available at 3rdFridaySBY.com.
The Arts, Business and Culture Department will also host an informational session for vendors, volunteers and performers about the 2024 3rd Friday season, themes and updates during the March 3rd Friday on March 15. This March Mingle will be held from 6-7 p.m., and staff will offer sign-up assistance in the Salisbury Council Chambers at the Salisbury Headquarters, located at 115 S. Division St.
