3rd Fridays are Back Outside April 16, 2021

3F-April-Post-01 (1)

SALISBURY, MD – April 16, 2021 is the next 3rd Friday in Downtown Salisbury.   Spring has finally sprung, and 3rd Friday will be back outside – with artists and crafters filling the streets, live music, new cottage food items, and special events.

This month’s theme is Spring Things – so get ready for baby animals, environmental organizations, and sustainability initiatives.

Spring Things wouldn’t be complete without celebrating new life – and that means baby animals.   Check out not one, but two mobile petting farms, with Look Pretty Play Dirty Petting Zoo and Funny Farm Petting Zoo bringing baby goats, baby lambs, chickens and geese, and even an alpaca.   Waavy Gravy will serenade us with live music from the N. Division Street stage.

Check out local environmental organizations, seed-bomb giveaways, and all new biodegradable agave straws at The Brick Room.  Plus, check out the Wicomico Libraries all new StoryWalk® and learn about environmentalist Wangari Maathai in “Wangari’s Trees of Peace: A True Story from Africa” by Jeanette Winter.  To follow the story, begin at the first sign at the Downtown Library and walk towards the Riverwalk, down to the end where it meets Route 13.

Salisbury Art Space will be open on 3rd Friday from 12 p.m. to 7 p.m., with a brand-new exhibition “Food For Thought” filled with art inspired by food and the social traditions surrounding food.  The show includes selections from local artists in all mediums, and has been judged by local artists Hyoe Choi and Michael J. Morris, also known as, Mijomor.   Also new at Salisbury Art Space, check out the solo show “My Hearts Art: Art by Lisa Hilyard”.  Lisa is an Eastern Shore native, and an award-winning, self-taught abstract artist, who expresses and releases her feelings though her heart-felt artwork, and art journaling.

If you’re headed out this 3rd Friday, be sure to support some of the amazing local shops and restaurants in Downtown Salisbury.   Soul Yoga Studio is having a ribbon cutting and grand re-opening on 3rd Friday at 5:00 p.m. with special merch sales, and scratch off tickets until 6 p.m.  Plus, be sure to check out their all new mural by local artist Dean McNelia.  Brew River will have live music with Best Kept Soul from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m., and the shops and boutiques will be open late for 3rd Friday.

Concerned about social distance, not to worry!  3rd Friday’s virtual event will share local artist highlights, links to retailers and fun highlights from the Downtown Salisbury area.  Facemasks are required during event hours.   3rd Friday is a downtown economic development initiative and a project of the Salisbury Arts & Entertainment District, in partnership with The City of Salisbury.  For More Information:  3rdFridaySby.com
