Delmarva Power Makes Energy Efficiency Presentation
Salisbury University Students Learn about Importance of Saving Energy
Members of Delmarva Power’s Demand Side Management team made a special presentation today to a group of Environmental Studies students at Salisbury University.
The team members were invited to provide information to the students about Delmarva Power’s portfolio of residential and commercial energy efficiency programs.
“We always welcome the opportunity to talk to customers about how simple steps can make a difference when it comes to saving energy,” said William Ellis, Delmarva Power Demand Side Management manager.
He added that Delmarva Power’s energy efficiency programs are designed to help meet Gov. Martin O’Malley’s EmPOWER Maryland initiative to help the state reduce energy consumption by 15 percent by 2015.
Students also watched a utility company trade ally do a walk-through energy assessment and propose energy efficiency upgrades for the Environmental Studies department building.
“I think Delmarva Power’s presentation added some real-world value to the students’ learning experience,” said Bill Nelson, Environmental Studies lecturer and program specialist. “Reading a textbook about the importance of energy efficiency is good, but having Delmarva Power’s subject matter experts on hand to demonstrate actual energy efficiency concepts proved to be very beneficial to the students.”
