Join us at Chefs for Habitat: A Gourmet Gala, a fabulous celebration that raises money to build homes for deserving, low income families. Our Chef’s committee has created a magical evening of fine food and festivities for Habitat’s eighth annual signature fundraising event. This year’s event will begin at 5:30pm with a cocktail hour with complementary champagne and appetizers by Jeremy Dashiell of Vittles Food truck and Chef Tony Hilligoss of Wicomico County’s Culinary CTE Program including a charcuterie table, smoked potato soup shooters, Italian teriyaki and pineapple sausage bites and of course, eastern shore crab dip.
The guests will sample luscious offerings such as roasted steamship round of beef, sundried tomato stuffed pork loin, creamy duck risotto, shrimp and grits, aligot potatoes, curry falafel, blt Caesar salad cups and smoked potato soup shooters from: Jeremie Burns of Burns Catering, Daniel Mears of Reign Event Center & The Rabbit Hole, Gerry Patt of The Marina Club, Captains Cove, Jason Myers of Roadie Joe’s, Arturo Suazo of Sobo’s Wine Beerstro, Jeremiah Burns of Cultured Corners & The Rabbit Hole and the Rising Chefs of Wicomico County’s CTE Culinary program under the supervision of Chef Tony Hilligoss. Many vegetarian options are included this year! Dessert and coffee will follow with offerings from pastry chef Susan Patt of Cake Art, and Ugly Pie owners: Heather Hall, Shania Bounds and Bridget Perry.
This year, we selected local celebrities to be our Celebrity Sous Chefs. The celebrities are: Aaron Johnson, PH.D., Anthony Darby, Ashton Donoway, Dee Copeland, Gil Allen, J.D. Schroen, Jamie Gladden, Jenna Bowne and Mandy Gladden. The celebrities were paired with Chefs to see who could make whipped cream the fastest/most accurate. The video showcasing the fun is on www.chefsforhabitat.com along with a link to vote with your dollars on the best celebrity sous chef. The new Celebrity Sous Chef race presentation and winning results will be revealed at 7:30pm.
Entertainment will be provided by DJ Last Call, Zach Johnson.
The event will raise money to build homes for future Habitat homeowners. When the homes are finished, the homeowners will assume a 30 year, no interest mortgage from Habitat. The money Habitat raises in mortgages is invested in building more homes for new Habitat family partners.
