The next session of Wicomico County Recreation & Parks’ karate program is coming up, and registration is open now.
Sensei David Doran teaches the GoJu style karate classes, which take place in the Wicomico Youth & Civic Center’s new karate room on the second floor on the Flanders Rooms side. The August session will begin Monday, Aug. 6, for Monday/Wednesday classes and Tuesday, Aug. 7, for Tuesday/Thursday classes. Each session includes eight classes.
There is a class for boys and girls ages 4-6 on Mondays and Wednesdays from 5:30-6 p.m. For kids ages 7-12, a beginner class (white belt) is held on Mondays and Wednesdays from 6-7 p.m., an intermediate class (yellow belt) is held on Mondays and Wednesdays from 7-8 p.m. and an advanced class (green belt and up) will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6-7 p.m.
Intermediate and advanced students must have tested out of the lower-level class in order to enroll.
The program fee for each month’s session is $40 per person for ages 4-6 and $55 per person for ages 7-12. The first uniform is included; additional uniforms can be purchased for $10 each. A late fee of $10 will be in effect once the session begins. Registration closes after the first week of class.
