Snow Hill Pharmacy

In 1998, Rite Aid bought Edgehill Pharmacy (locally owned) but decided to close the store in Snow Hill. Snow Hill’s town manager called Jeff Sherr at Apple Discount Drugs and asked if he would consider opening up a pharmacy in Snow Hill.  After reaching out to the owner of Edgehill and finding out just how busy the business was by supporting the needs of the town and surrounding areas, Sherr decided to open up Snow Hill Pharmacy.  But first he needed to find a location.  He eventually met with the owner of the Duck Inn, Clyde Curtis.  Curtis took his end unit, formerly a bar, closed the bar and rented the space to Sherr.

The 1,200 square foot space was remodeled and within three months the build out was complete, Snow Hill Pharmacy had its pharmacy license and was open for business. The interesting part of the story – Rite Aid went from deciding to close the Snow Hill store to staying open.  But not for long.  They eventually had to close because of the competition from Snow Hill Pharmacy.

The community supported the locally owned and operated business and still does today.
