Trash or treasure? Gems or junk? There’s bound to be a little of each during the Great Wicomico Yard Sale, hosted by the Salisbury Jaycees on Saturday, September 20.
On that day, residents throughout the county are encouraged to host yard sales, which will be listed on the Jaycees’ website. Rain dates also will be posted at that site, if necessary.
“The goal is to turn Wicomico County into a bargain hunters’ paradise for the day,” said project chairman Jason Rhodes. “We hope this event not only will give area residents an opportunity to get rid of items they may no longer want, but also will attract visitors from surrounding areas who may not otherwise have a reason to visit the county.”
Visitors arriving early will be able to check out the Salisbury Arts & Entertainment District’s 3rd Friday celebration in downtown Salisbury, beginning 5 p.m. September 19. The event will include local crafters and artists (but no yard sale items).
The next morning, bargain hunters may return downtown to the Salisbury Park and Flea in the city parking lot at 115 Poplar Hill Ave. Lovers of fresh food also may be interested in visiting the Shore Fresh Growers Farmers Market at the Salisbury Green on East Market Street before heading off to yard sale locations.
To have a yard sale listed on the official Great Wicomico Yard Sale webpage, email the address, time, a brief description of the types of items available and a phone number to jason@salisburyjc.com. (Phone numbers will not be published, but will be used by the Jaycees for confirmation.)
For a complete list of Great Wicomico Yard Sale participants, visit the Salisbury Jaycees’ website at www.salisburyjc.com as the date approaches.
