SALISBURY, MD — A Salisbury Executive Director, Educator and Community Leader Katherine Jones announced her run for election, as a Republican, for the at-large seat for Wicomico County Council.

“It’s the natural next step to serving my community. It’s been an honor to serve our residents at the city, county, and state levels focusing on matters of equity and justice, particularly for our vulnerable populations. Through my efforts, I hope to have gained your trust and support to serve at the next level as a County Councilwoman.”

During her service on the Wicomico County Charter Review Committee, Jones examined the balance between the offices of the County Executive and the County Council and would like to continue her efforts in building unity.

“I will encourage stronger partnerships between our City, the County Executive, and the County Council. It is essential that our local branches of government respect each other’s positions and find resolutions that benefit the citizens of our county.”

Jones also highlights her endeavors to support the installation of rural broadband, the expansion of water and sewer services, and the development of more career and technical programs to meet the needs of our workforce through Wor-Wic Community College and our public schools.

“As an advocate for economic growth, I will work hard so families and businesses choose Wicomico County to be their home. I will support our educational systems, so we can offer valuable technical skills to meet the growing needs of our businesses and create more employment opportunities for our residents.”
