Delmarva Veteran Builders (DVB) welcomed the Salisbury Area Chamber of Commerce’s members, family and friends to the June SACC’s Business After Hours at their headquarters in downtown Salisbury. The event turned into an epic “block party” and celebration of their 10th anniversary of providing commercial general contracting, designing/building and construction management to our community.
The crowd was welcomed by DVB’s leadership team Chris Eccleston – Founder and President, Daniel Mills – VP of Business Development and Kathryn Ellis – Head of Operations. Eccleston stated “Ten years ago we had the idea that we wanted to bring the “Veteran” attitude to the Delmarva landscape and I think that we can say that we have done that as we have been recognized by the Secretary of Defense at the Pentagon and we have been ranked nationally on the INC 5000 List three times in a row; a testament to the men and women that work at Delmarva Veteran Builders. The military and the construction industry have a lot of parallels. The men and women that join the military are trained not to fail, have a winning attitude and they want to serve. And you translate that to a construction project that has a clear deliverable, stay on task, work as a team, and end up building something. Over the next 10 years we want to be an inspiration to the local community, keep providing opportunities for veterans, continue to build community, and teach the next generation that grit can lead to greatness. We want to inspire and ignite potential in others, be fresh and think outside the box.”
City of Salisbury Mayor Jack Heath presented Mr. Eccleston and the Delmarva Veteran Builders team with a certificate in recognition and Senator Mary Beth Carozza presented a Senate citation for their 10 years of servicing the Delmarva Peninsula and providing jobs to our veterans.
Delmarva Veteran Builders (DVB) was founded in January of 2013 by Navy Veteran Chris Eccleston with the specific intent to provide quality construction jobs for local Delmarva veterans. They are the region’s only commercial construction firm dedicated to bringing employment to U.S. Armed Forces Veterans and have become one of the fastest growing companies in the nation while maintaining at least a 50% veteran and reservist workforce. Headquartered in Salisbury, MD, their services extend to general contracting, construction management, interior and exterior renovations, new building construction, renovations of occupied facilities, phased construction operations, water and pump station construction, and subcontracting of general trade packages.
Guests at the Business After Hours were enlivened by a DJ, tasted a delightful buffet provided by Taylor’s BBQ, libations and had the chance to win door prize. A 50/50 raffle was held to support the SACC Foundation Wor-Wic Scholarship fund, and who’s winner, Kate Deckenback, donated her winnings back to the fund.
