Salisbury, MD – Follow the candy trail at the Salisbury Zoo during three Halloween events this month.
Halloween Happening at the Salisbury Zoo, presented by Gateway Subaru, is set for Saturdays, Oct. 21 and 28, from 1-4 p.m. Tickets will be for sale online through Oct. 13, and those who purchase online will have early entry beginning at noon. Tickets will also be for sale at the gate.
For those with sensory needs, the Salisbury University Psychology Department will host the sensory-friendly Spooktacular Halloween on Saturday, Oct. 7, from 5-6:30 p.m., with a rain date of Sunday, Oct. 8, at the same time. Tickets are limited for that event, but tickets will be available at the gate if they remain.
“We are already getting the Zoo ready for Halloween, and we can’t wait to welcome everyone for the Halloween events,” said Kelly Colbert, education curator. “Get your costumes ready and get your tickets to enjoy this fun, family-friendly and non-scary experience.”
This year’s events will have a different layout, with games spread throughout the candy trail and a more open feel. A family costume contest will be held at 3 p.m. on each Halloween Happening date.
Tickets for Spooktacular Halloween are $10 per participating child; those not participating in the activities are admitted free. Tickets for Halloween Happening are $10 for children in advance, by Oct. 13, or $15 at the gate. Adult tickets are $2.
The Zoo is also seeking volunteers before and during Halloween Happening. To sign up as a volunteer or purchase tickets, visit www.salisburyzoo.org/events.
The Zoo will be closed to the public on Oct. 21 and 28 as staff prepares for and hosts these events.
