The Salisbury Area Chamber of Commerce Foundation Announces 2024/2025 Scholarship Recipients

The Advisory Board of the Salisbury Area Chamber of Commerce Foundation is proud to announce the scholarship recipients for 2024/2025. The scholarship was established to provide additional educational funding for Salisbury Area Chamber of Commerce members and their families.

The objective of the Foundation Scholarship Fund is to further each recipient’s education at a certified college, professional, technical, vocational, or business school that will enhance the recipient’s ability to impact the Delmarva business community positively.

The award is $1,000 yearly for up to four years of study or a one-time award for trade scholarships.

This year’s recipients are:

Julia Dyer
Julia lives in East New Market, MD, and works at Back Street Grill in Salisbury. She is a first-generation college student and received multiple scholarships from Salisbury University. Julia is funding her college education by working, baking, and through scholarships. She is majoring in Exercise Science, graduated from high school one year early. Her plans include finishing her undergraduate degree early and pursuing a second degree in nursing from Salisbury University before becoming a nurse practitioner locally. She volunteers at the Wicomico Humane Society and Baywater Humane Societies.

Alaynah Martin
Alaynah attends Mardela High and is dual enrolled. She plans to attend Wor-Wic Community College and major in nursing. She has spent her life on the Eastern Shore of Maryland and plans to find a lifelong career here. Alaynah currently serves the local community as an EMT.

Foster Smith
Foster Smith lives in Bishopville and attends Decatur High School. He plans to attend Salisbury University and major in business. Foster founded a backpack program and collects food for low-income kids who want food over the weekends. He has received the Service Award all four years of high school and wants to eventually work in low-income housing locally.

Tyler Staffeldt
Tyler attends Parkside High School. He is a member of the National Honor Society, plays on the PHS tennis and golf teams, and volunteers with HALO and the Salisbury Community Garden. He plans to attend Salisbury University and study computer science.

The winners were recognized at the SACC Business After Hours at The Community Foundation of the Eastern Shore on April 11, 2024.

The Salisbury Area Chamber Foundation Scholarship Fund was established with significant support from the Pohanka Automotive Group of Salisbury and past board presidents Memo Diriker and Stephanie Willey.
