MILLSBORO, DE — Mountaire Farms, the nation’s fourth largest chicken company, recently announced that 32 students would each receive a $2,500 scholarship to help them pay for college.
Children and grandchildren of employees, growers, and grain producers were eligible for the scholarship. Winners on Delmarva will be invited to Mountaire’s Faith and Family Night at the Delmarva Shorebirds on June 15th where they will be recognized on field before the game, and enjoy dinner with Mountaire executives. In North Carolina, scholarship winners will be honored at Mountaire’s Faith and Family Night at the Fayetteville Woodpeckers game on Saturday, August 3, 2024.

This year’s recipients include (broken into two groups –North Carolina and Delmarva):
2024 Scholarship Recipients North Carolina
Jaylyn Baldwin, from Greensboro, NC, is a sophomore at East Carolina University studying health care. Her mother, Jessica Moore, works at our Siler City processing plant.
Macy Chapman, from Taylorsville, NC, is a sophomore at North Carolina State University and plans to pursue a career in ag education. Her parents are breeder growers for Mountaire.
Trace Chatham, from Hiddenite, NC, is a sophomore at Wilkes Community College where he’s studying agri-business. His parents and grandparents are breeder growers for Mountaire, and he’d like to continue working on the family farm.
Tylie Chatham, from Hiddenite, NC, is a graduate of Alexander Central High School. She plans to attend Wilkes Community College to study agri-business. Her parents and grandparents are breeder growers for Mountaire.
Cheyenne Childers, from Taylorsville, NC, will be attending North Carolina A & T State University, where she will be studying agri-business and animal science. Her parents are breeder growers for Mountaire.
Kaley Elliott, from Denton, NC, is a graduate of Southwestern Randolph High School. She plans to attend High Point University to study tourism and event management. Her father, Jamie Elliott, is a grain producer for Mountaire.
Jailene Lemus Hurtado, from Broadway, NC, is a junior at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and plans to become a nurse. Her father, Juan Antonio Lemus Hurtado, works at our Siler City processing plant.
Eric Inman, from Bedford, TN, is a graduate of Bradford High School and plans to attend the University of Memphis studying architecture. His mother, Nicole Evans, works at the Siler City processing plant.
Ro Liani, from Laurinburg, NC, is a graduate of Scotland County High School. She plans to attend the University of North Carolina at Pembroke to study medicine. Her parents are broiler growers for Mountaire.
Kristen Locklear, from Shanon, NC, is a graduate of Saint Paul’s High School. She plans to attend the University of North Carolina at Pembroke to study nursing. Her father, Eugene Locklear, works at our Lumber Bridge processing plant.
Kyra Locklear, from Maxton, NC, is a graduate of Purnell Swett High School. She plans to attend Campbell University to study biology. Her father, Fabian Locklear, works at the Lumber Bridge processing plant.
Ann Nguyen, from Hamlet, NC, is a graduate of Richmond Senior High School. She plans to attend the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill to study public health. Her parents are broiler growers for Mountaire.
David Pickett, from Rockingham, NC, is a graduate of Richmond Senior High School and plans to attend North Carolina A & T University to study biology and bioengineering. His mother, Kathleen Wall, works at our Lumber Bridge processing plant.
Leslie Ramirez, from Sanford, NC, is a graduate of Lee County Senior High School and plans to study business at Central Carolina Community College. Her father, Florencio Ramirez Gonzalez, works at the Siler City processing plant.
Emily Rubio Perez, from Sanford, NC, is a junior at Appalachian State University studying history and social studies education. Her father, Pablo Rubio, works at our Siler City processing plant.
Kaylee Thomas, from Fayetteville, NC, is a graduate of Jack Britt High School. She plans to attend East Carolina University to study biology or environmental engineering. Her mother, Tiffany Thomas, works at the Lumber Bridge processing plant.

Kiersten Anderson, from Millsboro, DE, will be attending Delaware Technical and Community College to study nursing. She is the daughter Roland West, a grain producer for Mountaire.
Camille Bello, from Millsboro, DE, is a junior at the University of Delaware, majoring in Health Behavior Science. Her mother, Lily Bello, works in purchasing for Mountaire in Selbyville.
Mindy Blevins, from Selbyville, DE, is a junior attending Wilmington University studying organizational leadership. Her father, Charles Blevins, is our feed mill superintendent in Frankford.
Autumn Drew, from Bishopville, MD, is a sophomore at Wor-Wic Community College majoring in environmental studies. Her parents are broiler growers for Mountaire for the Selbyville location.
Taylor Harding, from Grasonville, MD, is a graduate of Kent Island High School. Her father, Erik Field, works at our Wye Mills grain facility. She plans to attend Eastern University to study nursing.
Raegan Kansak, from Frankford, DE, is a graduate of Indian River High School. She plans to attend the University of Delaware to study elementary education. Her parents are broiler growers for Mountaire for the Selbyville location.
Chase Murray, from Georgetown, DE, plans to attend Delaware Technical and Community College to study business. His family grows broilers for Mountaire.
Brock O’Day, from Seaford, DE, plans to attend the University of Kentucky to study agri-business management. His father, William O’Day, is a grain producer for Mountaire.
Eunsol Park, recently immigrated from South Korea. She plans to attend Wor-Wic Community College to take STEM classes and eventually pursue a degree in biochemistry. Her mother, Kim Miri, works at our Selbyville processing plant.
Ethan Patey, from Delmar, DE, is graduating from Delaware Technical Community College with an associate’s degree in agri-business management. He plans to attend Salisbury University in the fall to pursue a bachelor’s degree in business. His grandfather, Howard Webb, is a grain producer for Mountaire.

Cecilia Uebel, from Berlin, MD, is a sophomore at the University of Delaware studying sustainable food systems. Her father, Bostik Johnson, works at our Selbyville processing plant.
Cade Vanderslice, from Laurel, DE, is a sophomore at Regent University and plans to pursue a career in agri-business. His father, Patrick Vanderslice, works for the grow out team in Selbyville.
Lawrence Wilson, from Salisbury, MD, is a graduate of James M. Bennett High School. He plans to attend Towson University and study business. His mother, Melissa Wilson, works on the safety team in Millsboro.
