SALISBURY – TidalHealth Peninsula Regional is pleased to announce that Ivy Lewis, Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) of patient care area 3 West, has been selected as its Sunshine Award recipient for December 2024.
Lewis was recognized for her professionalism, kindness, and compassion by both a patient’s family member and a fellow coworker on the unit. In nominating her, the wife of a patient said:
“Ivy is a sweetheart. Very nice, always has a smile on her face and was joking with my husband, which he loved, making him feel at ease. She was always checking to see if he needed anything and how was he doing. When he did need something, she responded immediately. We enjoyed having her as his CNA.”
From a Registered Nurse on her unit:
“Ivy is such a compassionate CNA who truly cares about her patients. For example, recently she was taking care of a deaf patient who unfortunately was in the hospital on his birthday. Ivy logged onto the internet and watched videos of how to sign Happy Birthday. She went in the room and signed it to the patient. The patient’s face lit up with the biggest smile. We need more Ivy’s.”
Lewis was honored in a ceremony before her coworkers and presented with fresh flowers, a pin and a certificate recognizing her exceptional devotion to team and patient care.
