Salisbury— TidalHealth is proud to announce, effective May 1, the promotion of Angela “Angie” Brittingham, DNP, MSN, RN, CEN, CPEN, NEA-BC, CPHQ, to Senior Vice President of Patient Care Services/Chief Nursing Executive. This strategic move underscores the health system’s commitment to clinical excellence and the vital role of nursing leadership as it continues to grow and evolve—most recently with the addition of Atlantic General Hospital to the TidalHealth system.

Dr. Brittingham, who began her journey with TidalHealth Peninsula Regional in 2000 as a Certified Nursing Assistant on the Mother/Baby Unit, has exemplified dedication, leadership, and innovation throughout her career. Her appointment comes at a pivotal time as TidalHealth strengthens its regional presence and further integrates care across its hospitals and facilities.

Most recently serving as Vice President of Patient Care Services and Chief Nursing Executive (CNE) since March 2023, Dr. Brittingham has held numerous leadership roles, including Senior Director and Director of Emergency and Trauma Services, Clinical Manager of Pediatrics, Emergency Charge Nurse/Supervisor, and Staff Nurse.

“Angie’s promotion reflects the critical importance of nursing in delivering exceptional care and in shaping the future of our health system,” said Steve Leonard, Ph.D., MBA, FACHE. “As we welcome new partners like Atlantic General Hospital into the TidalHealth family, her leadership will be instrumental in centralizing and harmonizing our care models in conjunction with advancing our mission.”

Dr. Brittingham, as its CNE, oversees the professional nursing practice across the entire TidalHealth system, including TidalHealth Peninsula Regional in Salisbury, Atlantic General Hospital in Berlin, TidalHealth Nanticoke in Seaford, Delaware, Chesapeake Cove Assisted Living, and Tawes Nursing Home in Crisfield, Maryland. Her leadership remains central to unifying patient care services and ensuring the highest standards across a growing Delmarva Peninsula footprint.

Dr. Brittingham earned her Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree from the University of Alabama. She holds a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) from Capella University and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from Chamberlain University. Her certifications and professional affiliations include the Emergency Nurses Association, the American Organization for Nursing Leadership, Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ), and Nurse Executive, Advanced Certification (NEA-BC).

A lifelong member of the Eastern Shore community, Dr. Brittingham has lived in Salisbury since the age of three. She is married and the proud mother of an adult son.
