The Salisbury Award Is Presented to Charles G. Goslee and Charles R. “chip” Dashiell, Jr

The Trustees of The Salisbury Award are pleased to announce the presentation of The Salisbury Award to Charles G. Goslee and Charles R. “Chip” Dashiell Jr.

Longtime educator and civic leader, Charles G. Goslee was presented with the prestigious Salisbury Award on October 28, 2025.  He was recognized for his lifetime of impact through the dedication of his time, talent and treasure to our community. Charles accepted the award surrounded by his beloved family.

Charles R. “Chip” Dashiell Jr. was presented The Salisbury Award at the Community Foundation of the Eastern Shore’s Annual Meeting on November 7, 2025.  Chip was recognized for record of public and community service that is truly worthy of this recognition. Chip has served on numerous boards to include the Salisbury Area Chamber of Commerce, the Greater Salisbury Committee, the Wicomico Airport Commission, Wor-Wic Community College Foundation and served as Past President of the Blood Bank of Delmarva.   Chip is a former member and past Vice President of the Wicomico County Council and served as Vice Chair of the MD. Department of Education.

Currently, Chip is a member of the Boards of Wesley College, The Wicomico County Education Foundation, and Salisbury Neighborhood Housing.  Chip is also Chairman of the Salisbury Wicomico County Planning and Zoning Commission where he has served for 15 years.   He is  a current member of the First Shore Federal Board where he has served with honor for more than 30 years.  Chip is also Chair of the Board of Trustees for the Wicomico County Library and serves as Vice Chairman of the Library’s Friends of the Foundation which is currently undergoing a successful capital campaign.

In addition to receiving a plaque to memorialize their selection, both recipients will select a charity of their choice to receive a $500 donation.

The Salisbury Award is the community’s oldest and most prestigious independent civic award. First given in 1926, the award was established and originally endowed by local businessman G. William Phillips to recognize “service that has been the greatest benefit to the happiness, prosperity, intellectual advancement or moral growth of the community”. Previous honorees include Avery Hall, Richard Henson, Frank Perdue, Dick Hazel, Sam Seidel, Paul Martin, Virginia Layfield, Mitzi Perdue, Lewis Riley, Pete Cooper, George Whitehead, Tony Sarbanes, Bill Ahtes, Ben’s Red Swings, and The Community Foundation of the Eastern Shore, The Magi Fund, Norm Conway, Bob Cook, The Greater Salisbury Committee, The Fruitland Community Center, Perdue Farms, The Salisbury Area Chamber of Commerce, the Wicomico Rotary Club, Marty Neat, MAC, Inc. and Don Taylor.
