Salisbury, MD — TidalHealth Peninsula Regional is pleased to announce that Claire Saintfleur, RN, of Mother Baby, has been selected as its DAISY Award recipient for October 2025.
Saintfleur was nominated by a recent patient for providing excellent patient care and service:
“Claire served as my night nurse after an unexpected caesarean section. I was highly distraught and emotional. Claire was a breath of fresh air. She was highly attentive and went the extra mile to assist me at my lowest and most vulnerable moments as a new mother.
Claire came whenever I called, always with a smile and a solution. She met my spouse and me with genuine warmth and comfort — it never felt forced, but rather like it was truly her pleasure to help in any way she could.
She got to know us so well that she knew my husband’s drink order down to the amount of ice. This seems frivolous, but when your child is in the special care nursery and you’re recovering from a C-section, the little details make the difference. Claire understood the little things.”
Saintfleur was honored with the DAISY Award in a ceremony before her colleagues. She received certificates commending her for being an extraordinary nurse, and a sculpture called “A Healer’s Touch,” hand-carved by artists of the Shona Tribe in Zimbabwe.
The not-for-profit DAISY Foundation is based in Glen Ellen, California, and was established by family members in memory of J. Patrick Barnes. Barnes died at age 33 in late 1999 from complications of Idiopathic Thrombocytopenic Purpura (ITP), a little-known but not uncommon autoimmune disease.
The care Barnes and his family received from nurses while he was ill inspired this unique means of thanking nurses for making a profound difference in the lives of their patients and patient families.
