Own Your Future is an initiative of the Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD) designed to help small businesses take the next step toward long-term stability and wealth building. Supported by the federal State Small Business Credit Initiative (SSBCI), this program provides financial assistance for businesses ready to invest in property they can operate from and call their own.
Eligible Uses of Funding:
Businesses may use Own Your Future funds for a variety of real estate needs, including:
- Purchasing or renovating commercial property to support business operations.
- Buying the space you currently lease or relocating to a new property.
- Securing property for the first time, including for businesses without a traditional storefront—such as e-commerce enterprises or food trucks.
- Acquiring property as part of a business expansion, supporting growth and increased capacity.
This program offers a pathway for small businesses to build equity, strengthen their footprint, and invest in their future.
