Salisbury, MD — The City of Salisbury partnered with the Boys & Girls Club at the Truitt Community Center to “Adopt a Child” this Christmas, bringing joy and holiday spirit to dozens of local families.
Tonight, 116 community members gathered for a festive evening of food, music and giving, coordinated by Clearway Strategies. The event featured a holiday meal, sleigh bells and the highlight of the night — gift-giving to 83 children who are members of the Boys & Girls Club.
Each child received a wrapped present from their Christmas wish list, made possible by the generosity of City of Salisbury employees. Wendy’s added to the celebration by donating part of the dinner and providing each child with a knapsack filled with goodies.
City departments were invited to adopt one or more children, contributing gifts and attending the Club’s annual Christmas party to share in the celebration.
“This event is a beautiful example of what happens when a community comes together,” said Mayor Randy Taylor. “We’re proud to support the Boys & Girls Club and help make the holidays brighter for Salisbury’s youth.”

The Boys & Girls Club at Truitt Community Center offers nearly 280 days of no-cost programming annually for youth ages 6 to 18. Since launching in spring 2022, the Club has provided holistic support for academic success, health and wellness, character development, and workforce readiness. Thanks to a 3,900-square-foot expansion completed by the City of Salisbury in fall 2024, the Club tripled its membership capacity to serve 100 kids and teens.
