Salisbury, MD — TidalHealth Peninsula Regional is pleased to announce that Samantha “Sam” Gross, CNA, of 3 East, has been selected as its Sunshine Award recipient for January 2026.
Gross was nominated by a coworker for her compassion, empathy, dedication and generosity:
“Sam is such an incredible member of this team, always going above and beyond for her patients. One specific encounter really stood out to me, and I believe she deserves recognition for always bringing a smile to her patients’ faces.
There was a young patient on our floor who enjoyed reading. She had a particular book on her bedside table that she had read many times. The patient told Sam that she wanted to read the rest of the series, but never got around to purchasing them. Sam brought in her own personal collection of that series and gifted it to the patient. Not only was the patient surprised and grateful, but Sam’s kindness and compassion also brought tears to her eyes — as well as mine.
It takes a truly special person to touch lives and bring joy, especially in the difficult situations many of our patients face. Sam is that kind of wonderful person. Our unit is lucky to have her and her kind heart.”
Gross was honored in a ceremony before her coworkers and presented with fresh flowers, a pin, and a certificate recognizing her exceptional devotion to team and patient care.
