Temporary traffic and parking changes to be implemented at TidalHealth Peninsula Regional

2026 Obs Unit Construction 3 (1)

Salisbury, MD — TidalHealth Peninsula Regional is implementing temporary parking and traffic changes starting Monday, Feb. 23, in support of the construction of a new observation unit adjacent to the Robert T. Adkins, M.D. Emergency/Trauma Center (ED).

As construction progresses, parking availability and traffic patterns on campus will change in phases. TidalHealth will keep the community informed; however, patients and visitors are encouraged to allow extra time for arrival, follow posted signage and exercise caution while driving and walking near the construction area.
The expansion will add a new observation unit connected directly to the existing ED. The project includes 23,000 square feet across two levels (46,000 square feet total).
At street level, the addition will feature 40 observation rooms with a direct connection to the existing ED. Observation rooms are dedicated rooms within a hospital designed for the short-term monitoring and treatment of patients who require further assessment to determine whether they need to be admitted as inpatients or can be safely discharged home. The underground level will allow space for future expansion.
Beginning Feb. 23, the flow of traffic around and into the ED visitor entrance and the Frank B. Hanna Main Entrance will be temporarily altered. A portion of West Vine Street between Waverly Drive and Patterson Road will be blocked and limited to a single lane of traffic in one direction. Further, West Vine will be periodically closed during construction from February through early fall 2026.
The Emergency Department will remain open and fully accessible throughout construction. Patients can continue to reach the Frank B. Hanna Main Entrance, although routes may be temporarily adjusted.
Parking availability may change during various phases of the project. Visitors should follow posted detours, signage and staff direction upon arrival or check tidalhealth.org/trafficalerts for the latest construction updates.
“We appreciate our community’s patience and flexibility as we complete this important expansion and remind them to be careful and cautious near the construction area,” said Scott Phillips, TidalHealth’s vice president of Supply Chain and Support Services. “This project will enhance emergency services capacity and strengthen our ability to provide safe, high-quality care.”
Patients who anticipate arriving late due to traffic should contact their clinic or practice directly.
