Snow Hill, MD. — The Julia A. Purnell Museum is proud to announce its participation in Blue Star Museums, a national program of the National Endowment for the Arts and Blue Star Families, in collaboration with the Department of Defense.
As a Blue Star Museum, the Purnell Museum will offer free admission to active‑duty military personnel and their families, including members of the National Guard and Reserve, throughout the 2026 Blue Star season, which runs from Armed Forces Day (May 16) through Labor Day (September 7).
“We are honored to welcome military families to the Julia A. Purnell Museum as part of the Blue Star Museums program,” said Executive Director Tina Busko. “Our mission has always centered on community, connection, and preserving the stories that shape our region. Extending free admission is one way we can show our appreciation and ensure that every family has access to the history and creativity that make Snow Hill and Worcester County so special.”
Becoming a Blue Star Museum reflects the museum’s commitment to accessibility, community service, and honoring those who serve our nation. The program provides military families with meaningful opportunities to explore arts, culture, and local history during the summer months, which is often a time of transition, travel, and reconnection for many service members.
The Julia A. Purnell Museum is currently closed for the winter season with an opening date of March 9. For more information on the Julia A. Purnell Museum call (410) 632-0515 or email executivedirector@snowhillmd.com.
