The Del‑Mar‑Va Council proudly announces five exceptional volunteers as recipients of the 2026 Silver Beaver Award, the highest recognition a council can bestow for distinguished service to youth. This year’s honorees—Phillip Minchel Bowman, Jr., Carrie Ann Huot, Catherine Hoffman Kaser, Butch Linton, and Curt Snyder—represent decades of leadership, mentorship, and unwavering commitment to Scouting across Del-Mar-Va peninsula. The Del‑Mar‑Va Council recognized these five exceptional Scouters at the Annual Recognition Event held in Dover, Delaware, on April 29, 2026. Their stories reflect the very best of Scouting—service above self, leadership with humility, and a steadfast belief in the potential of every young person.
- Phillip Minchel Bowman, Jr., of Felton, DE, a lifelong Scouter and former Delaware state apiarist, has served in multiple Scoutmaster, commissioner, and training roles over more than fifty years, shaping generations of youth and leaders.
- Carrie Ann Huot, of Milford , DE, a 33‑year Air Force veteran and dedicated outdoor leader, has strengthened units in Milford, served on district committees, and led multiple Philmont crews, inspiring Scouts through adventure and service.
- Catherine Hoffman Kaser, of Hockessin, DE, Council Training Chair and national Scouting U editor, has transformed adult and youth training culture through her leadership, curriculum work, and commitment to high‑quality volunteer development.
- Butch Linton, of Elkton, MD, a fourth‑generation Scout and longtime Elkton leader, has served as Cubmaster, Scoutmaster, commissioner, and district chair, and founded a Uniform Bank to ensure every youth can participate fully in Scouting.
- Curt Snyder, of Ocean View, DE, an Eagle Scout and Vigil Honor member, has guided units in southern Delaware as Scoutmaster, committee chair, NYLT staffer, and Jamboree leader, investing deeply in youth leadership and character development.
