The Recovery Resource Center (RRC) will open National Recovery Month on September 3 with a regional launch event at the Wicomico Public Library, followed by its annual Rise for Recovery Breakfast on October 8 at the Wicomico Civic Center.

National Recovery Month Launch – September 3

The Lower Shore National Recovery Month Launch Event will be held Thursday, September 3, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Paul S. Sarbanes Branch of the Wicomico Public Library. The event will feature submissions from the Lower Shore Addiction Awareness Visual Arts Competition, representing artists from Wicomico, Worcester, and Somerset Counties.

According to the event announcement, “The evening will include remarks from guest speakers, local officials, and community leaders who will share their perspectives on addiction awareness, and the importance of community support.” Light refreshments will be provided by RRC.

Rise for Recovery Breakfast – October 8

RRC will continue its Recovery Month efforts with the Rise for Recovery Breakfast on Thursday, October 8, from 7:30 to 9 a.m. at the Wicomico Civic Center.

This year’s fundraiser comes as RRC faces a $200,000 reduction in grant funding while demand for recovery services continues to increase. The organization reports that, unlike larger agencies receiving opioid restitution funds, small recovery nonprofits depend heavily on community support to sustain peer-led programs.

“National Recovery Month reminds us that recovery doesn’t end on September 30—it’s a year-round commitment,” said Lisa Lynn Campbell, Executive Director of RRC. “With funding cuts and growing need, we rely on our community more than ever to ensure every person seeking recovery has access to hope, healing, and stability.”

RRC has provided free, peer-driven recovery support for 35 years, offering services that help individuals maintain sobriety, secure stable housing, and build recovery capital—the personal, social, and community resources that support long-term recovery.
