Wor-Wic Community College will host the Shatter the Stigma Walk to raise awareness of addiction and recovery resources at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 26, at the college campus on the Hazel Center quad. Registration begins at 9 a.m. The event is rain or shine.
The walk aims to encourage conversations and reduce the stigma surrounding addiction, fostering an environment where individuals can seek help without shame or guilt. While online registration for the walk is encouraged, it is not mandatory. Along with a stroller- and disability-friendly one-mile walking path, the event will feature free entertainment and giveaways.
The free event is in partnership with Walk Wicomico, the Wicomico County Health Department and Wicomico Goes Purple, a countywide effort to promote substance misuse prevention, treatment and recovery. Visit the event section of www.worwic.edu for more information or to register.
