Construction and Contracting and Government attendance leads the room as Pohanka Commercial’s/Salisbury Area Chamber monthly forum tackles “what’s actually funded, and who to call”
SALISBURY, Md. — Pohanka Commercial’s “Building Momentum Delmarva” forum drew 85 attendees representing 65 organizations to the Pohanka Lewis Steel Building on September 9 for a session titled “Projects and Access: What’s Actually Funded, and Who to Call.”
Government representation — city, county, state, and federal combined — was the largest single bloc in the room at 25% of external attendance, ahead of any private-sector vertical. Construction and contracting led the private sector at 18%. Attendees included Salisbury Mayor Randy Taylor’s office and City Administrator, county government and economic development leaders from Wicomico, Worcester, and Somerset counties — including the Worcester County Office of Tourism and Economic Development — along with Senator Johnny Mautz, Delegate Barry Beauchamp, and a representative from Senator Andy Harris’s Eastern Shore office.
“Build relationships before you need them” was the sentiment echoed across the panel — a throughline organizer Shawna Kearsley, Business Development Partner at Pohanka Commercial, says is the whole premise of the series. “Get the right people in front of each other before there’s a project on the table, not after.”
Building Momentum Delmarva is co-hosted monthly by Pohanka Commercial and the Salisbury Area Chamber of Commerce, connecting Eastern Shore contractors, business owners, and public-sector leaders around practical, funded opportunities. The series follows a strategic arc — find people, find money, manage money — moving attendees from relationship-building to funding access to execution over successive sessions.
