The order also creates a public data center dashboard, while Moore said he will work with lawmakers to repeal Maryland’s 2020 sales tax exemption for data centers.
Our take: The Maryland Chamber supports a coordinated, predictable approach that allows Maryland to capture data center investment while addressing potential impacts on energy costs and infrastructure. As the framework is implemented, it will be important that the review process provides clear expectations for developers and supports, rather than discourages, responsible investment and economic growth in Maryland.
