Maryland State Board of Elections Reminds Marylanders of Voter Registration Options for General Election

ANNAPOLIS, MD (September 29, 2026) – The Maryland State Board of Elections (SBE) todayis reminding Marylanders of their voter registration options and deadlines as the 2026 General Election approaches. Marylanders can also update important voter information, such as name, address, party affiliation, and whether they would like to receive a mail-in ballot.

“Registering to vote, and keeping your voter information current, is the first step to having your voice heard,” said State Administrator Jared DeMarinis. “It is never too soon to register or to
update your voter information for this year’s general election.”

There are three ways to register to vote or update voter information in this year’s general election.

Register Online: The preliminary deadline to register or update voter registration is Tuesday, October 13. To register online, use SBE’s online registration system.

Register by Mail: Residents can register by printing the registration form (English version and Spanish version) and mailing it by October 13. Mailed registrations must be postmarked by this date. Alternatively, residents can submit it at their local board of elections.

Register In-Person: Residents can register during Early Voting from Thursday, October 22 to Thursday, October 29, or on General Election Day, Tuesday, November 3. Polls are open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Voters in line by 8 p.m. will be able to register. A list of early voting locations is available online Make sure to bring a document that proves where you live when you attempt to vote at your local polling place or early voting center.
