Gillis Gilkerson, one of the most stable and trusted general contracting and construction management firms on Delmarva, announced the completion of the new Choptank Electric Cooperative Regional Service Center building at 6520 Walston Switch Road in Salisbury, Maryland.
The facility, built across from Wor-Wic Community College combines the Salisbury and Berlin Choptank district offices and houses a redundant systems control room, member service center and additional departments for the company to utilize in preparation for the region’s future growth.

Gillis Gilkerson was contracted to build the center with architectural plans designed by Davis, Bowen, and Friedel, Inc., also of Salisbury, Maryland. The Cooperative is also seeking LEED Silver Certification and will have a solar field to help provide energy for the building. Building plans include energy and water efficiency technologies, renewable, recycled and low-emitting materials and a construction waste management program. The new facility also includes an on-site lineman training facility to provide ongoing training opportunities for line crews.

According to Project Manager, Jason Rudd and Superintendent, Dan Disharoon, the building opened for business on June 20, 2016.
