The SACC was delighted join the Academy of Music Performance (AMP) Studio and the Bailey Family on December 7, 2023 as they celebrated their 10th anniversary of offering students with a once in a lifetime opportunity to create music through their variety of programs.

Guests were welcomed by owners Gino and Susan Bailey, and their daughters Rachel and Lauren who now work full time with them at AMP Studio.   Susan shared with the attendees “We came up with the idea for AMP while in our dining room when Gino and I realized there wasn’t a place for students to learn how to play modern music outside of the band and choir classroom.  We said to ourselves can we really do this, and here we are 10 years later!  I want to thank the Salisbury Area Chamber of Commerce for allowing us this opportunity to meet so many new people and inviting them to come see our venue/space. Thanks to Bret and Kirk with Davis Strategic Development for finding this space and letting us put our faith in them; they renovated this 100+ year old space and we are grateful every day to come in and be part of downtown Salisbury history. We would not be here if it was not for our family, friends, our students, and their families who have contributed to our growth and helped us make this space unique.  And last, but not least, I want to thank my immediate family, my husband Gino and our daughters Rachel and Lauren; it is not easy to work with your family, but working together has definitely made us closer.”

In September 2013, the doors of AMP studio finally opened and welcomed students of all musical backgrounds and all instruments. “We started with 5 kids, and now we have 100 kids go through our studio every week, we have 6 bands, we have done A Capella rock and roll, sang to mayor Jake Day, and much more!  We want to teach our kids to be a rock stars, to do something they really like to do, to be successful, to encourage and let them know that music is a viable occupation.” shared Gino Bailey.

The first classes at AMP consisted of 5 musicians and took place inside of an old bank. As years went by the studio grew until it found its current home at One Plaza East in downtown Salisbury. The studio has been fortunate to get to work with hundreds of students ranging from ages 7-18 from all over the peninsula.  AMP offers a wide variety of lessons and encourages students to take their music outside of the classroom setting.  AMP gives students an opportunity to perform all over the shore including festivals, fairs, showcases, and fundraising events. Many AMP students have gone on to continue training in college or pursue a career in music.

Three lucky winners had the opportunity to win a gift bag with swag items, gift cards from Two Scoops, and two private lessons at AMP Studio.
