Alpha Kappa Alpha Sponsors Asthma Prevention and Management Workshop

Delta Sigma Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. in partnership with the Wicomico County Branch of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (WCNAACP) is sponsoring a free workshop on Asthma Prevention and Management on Saturday, June 21, 2014 from 10:00 am to noon at Sojourner Douglass College, 408 Coles Circle, Suite-D, Salisbury, MD.

The interactive workshop is geared towards children in grades K-6 with a separate session for parents and/or the responsible adults in the children’s lives. Discussions will include What is Asthma?; Asthma Triggers and Control; and Medications used to treat Asthma. Tips for providing a safe home environment will be offered. Sessions will be led by registered nurses, a Health Educator and an elementary school teacher. The first workshop was presented in 2013 and was well received by attendees. A responsible adult must accompany each child and a permission form must be signed  by a parent or responsible adult for children to participate.
