Salisbury, MD – Audrey Windsor, patient care technician (PCT) in the Emergency Department (ED), has been selected as TidalHealth Peninsula Regional’s September 2024 Sunshine Award recipient for her professionalism, kindness, and compassion.
Windsor was nominated by her manager, who wrote:
Audrey noticed a camper in the parking lot near the ED entrance and took it upon herself to learn the story behind it.
Audrey discovered the family was on vacation when they experienced a tragic health event and was staying in the parking lot not sure of what else to do. She quickly reacted to help remedy the situation.
Audrey contacted a friend of hers who works at a local campground and inquired about a spot for this family and their camper at what was a very busy time of the summer camping season.
She was able to speak with the manager at the Fort Whaley Campground and obtained the family a heavily discounted rate for them to stay, open ended, for as long as they needed.
Audrey went to the ICU during visiting hours to deliver the information to the very thankful family.
When asked why she did this, Audrey stated she just wanted to do for someone what she would want done for her.
Windsor was honored in a ceremony before her coworkers and presented with fresh flowers, a pin and a certificate recognizing her exceptional devotion to team and patient care.
