Stephanie H. McFarland CRNP, owner of newly established Bayborne Health Center, was recently awarded the SU Lucy Tull Distinguished Faculty Award for the School of Nursing for excellence in teaching, scholarship, and service.

As director for the program, Dr. Debra Webster presented this award at the Spring 2026 pinning ceremony acknowledging Stephanie\’s professionalism, compassion, dedication to students and colleagues, often going above and beyond to ensure the success of her students. She fosters mentorship and teamwork, using her role as an experienced nurse and family nurse practitioner to provide students with realistic experiences to assist in connecting theory and clinical concepts.

This past year, Stephanie created the Essence of Nursing student award to honor one student each semester for displaying qualities that represent the true nature of profession. One of her recent students wrote a thank you letter stating how much she appreciated her mentorship. Stating that “coming into the nursing program, I was uncertain if it was right for me but having supportive and inspiring role models such as yourself made all the difference.”

Stephanie continues in her program at University of Maryland Baltimore seeking a PhD in Health Professions Education while actively volunteering with Humane Society of Wicomico County and local Red Cross chapter.

Bayborne Health Center is an integrated primary and mental healthcare private practice. The goal of the practice is to fill in gaps in both areas of care as well as provide a more holistic, collaborative approach to overall health.
