Becker Morgan Group was honored to receive the Project of Distinction Award at the 2023 Association for Learning Environments (A4LE) Northeast Region Conference for their design work on the Rock Creek School in Frederick County, MD.

Rock Creek School provides individualized special education programs for students with severe intellectual, physical, emotional, hearing, visual, and learning disabilities. The single-story educational facility was designed to serve this unique population of 120 students, ranging in age from 3 to 21. Brad Hastings, AIA, Principal-in-Charge of the firm’s Education Studio commented, “We are honored to receive this award, especially in light of the population served by the school and its importance to the Frederick community.” Becker Morgan Group served as the Design Architect for this replacement school along with Proffitt & Associates Architects, the Architect of Record, and Purple Cherry Architects, the Special Needs Consultant.

Additionally, Sandra Carpenter, LEED AP BD+C, was the recipient of the 2023 Distinguished Service Award for her over 30 years of design excellence and commitment to A4LE’s mission “to strengthen learning for all through better environments”. Since Chapter inception in 2013, Sandy has served on the A4LE Chesapeake Bay/Delaware Valley Board of Directors, including as President. Sandy is a Senior Associate, Project Manager, and integral member of Becker Morgan Group’s Education Studio.
