Salisbury, MD – This GivingTuesday, Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Eastern Shore, Inc. (BBBSES) will encourage Lower Eastern Shore residents to partner with and support the agency to provide life changing mentoring, enrichment, empowerment, and resources to children and families facing adversity. BBBSES has partnered with Community Foundation of the Eastern Shore for Shore Gives More, a campaign to support families in Wicomico, Worcester, and Somerset counties.
GivingTuesday will kick off the generosity season this year by encouraging people to give back on November 28, 2023, and throughout the year. GivingTuesday is a generosity movement, unleashing the power of people and organizations to transform the Lower Shore community through financial support, hosting fundraisers to support vital programs, or volunteering as a mentor.
The success of the BBBSES’s vision that all youth achieve their potential is only made possible through ongoing partnership and community support from Salisbury, Berlin, Snow Hill, Princess Anne, and all towns throughout the Lower Eastern Shore. Support from community partners has enabled the organization to serve 613 children and provide 7,102 resources to children and families facing adversity in 2022.
Little Brother Jamie from Berlin shared the impact of having a mentor has made in his life, “My Big Brother gave me a chance to explore my talents and learn how no dream is too big to reach, like learning how to stick to a routine and set priorities to help me focus on meeting my goals”.
BBBSES joined The Shore Gives More to recruit mentors and promote improved caring, confidence, and competence of Lower-Shore children facing adversity. The organization’s GivingTuesday goal is to raise $10,000 to support vital, life-changing mentoring, enrichment, and resources for local children and families facing adversity.
“GivingTuesday gives community members a chance to support our agency and make a difference in their community during this giving season, when it is needed most. Together, we can ignite sparks of hope and possibility”, Jessica Mimms, Executive Director of Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Eastern Shore.
