Salisbury, MD – In honor of National Volunteer Month this April, Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Eastern Shore (BBBS) is thrilled to celebrate and express heartfelt appreciation for its dedicated network of volunteers. These individuals, including mentors, board members, event helpers, and interns, play a crucial role in the organization’s mission to provide impactful youth services including enrichment and mentoring.
Volunteer Appreciation Month serves as a reminder of the profound difference that volunteers make in the lives of children and the community. BBBS relies on the commitment of volunteers to help guide and support local youth, fostering positive relationships that inspire confidence and growth.
“Our volunteers are the heart of our organization,” said Jessica Mimms, Executive Director of BBBS of the Eastern Shore. “Their dedication and passion for mentoring have a lasting impact on the lives of the children we serve. We are incredibly grateful for their time, effort, and unwavering support.”
Throughout April, BBBS will be participating in various events and activities to highlight the agencies free services to youth and families and volunteer opportunities. Volunteer recognition includes social media shout-outs and special gifts of appreciation.
Join the Celebration!
Community members are encouraged to join the celebration by sharing their stories and experiences with volunteers using the hashtag #NationalVolunteerMonth. This is a wonderful opportunity to highlight the positive impact of mentoring and inspire others to get involved.
Current mentor, Pat Farina says, “I love being a big sister to my little sister. I feel good being able to provide value to my little. But I also feel that my little sister provides a lot of value to me. I believe you are never too old to learn. And every time I am with my little sister, I learn something.” BBBS invites anyone interested in making a difference in a young person’s life to consider becoming a volunteer. Mentoring offers a rewarding experience that not only helps shape the future of youth but also enriches the lives of mentors.
