Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Eastern Shore (BBBSES) hosted its 32nd Annual Santa’s Open Charity Golf Tournament on Saturday, December 7th, at the Ocean City Golf Club. A spirited group of 152 golfers braved the brisk December weather to enjoy a day filled with camaraderie and charitable giving in support of eastern shore youth.
The event embodied holiday cheer, which brought out the festive side of participants, many of whom sported festive costumes and ugly sweaters—proving that even on the fairway, the spirit of the season shines brightly. As part of the tournament tradition, golfers generously donated gifts for children facing adversity.
The tournament concluded with an awards ceremony celebrating the top teams and closest-to-the-pin achievements on both courses: Seaside Course Champions: Eric Breithut, Jim Lohr, J.P. Lacey, and Craig Tronti. Newport Bay Course Champions: Steve Emily, Eddie Daniel, Jason Daniel, and Sean Thomas
This beloved annual event would not have been possible without the incredible support of community sponsors and dedicated volunteers which include: North Pole Presenting Sponsor: Delmarva Power, Rudolph’s Reception Sponsors: M&T Bank and Culligan Sharp Water. Mrs. Claus’s Breakfast Sponsors: Mid Atlantic Heating and Air Conditioning and WBOC. Santa’s Cheer Sponsors: The Harrison Group and Salisbury University. Hole-in-One Contest Sponsor: Pohanka of Salisbury. Special recognition goes to Jimmy Sweet of the Delmarva Shorebirds, who chaired the event, leading a collaborative effort that exemplified the strength of community partnerships.
“We are grateful to our sponsors, participants, and volunteers for making this event a success,” said BBBSES Executive Director Jessica Mimms. “The communities generosity helps us invest in the future of youth, providing them with the resources and programs they need to thrive.”
Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Eastern Shore provides programs, enrichment activities, and resources tailored to the needs of children on Maryland’s Eastern Shore. The agency accepts applications for both adult volunteers (Bigs) and children (Littles).
