Blind Industries & Services of Maryland Brings “BISM On Tap TOO” to the Eastern Shore

Salisbury, MD  — On Sunday, April 26, from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., Blind Industries and Services of Maryland (BISM) will host a new community celebration, BISM on Tap TOO. This event, taking place at Burnish Beer Company (2305 Northwood Drive, Salisbury, MD 21801), honors the 40th anniversary of BISM’s independence training and rehabilitation (ITR) programs.

Following the success of its annual Baltimore event, BISM is expanding the celebration to Salisbury to engage the local community. The event will feature live music, raffle prizes donated by local businesses, blind-friendly games, and accessible activities. Attendees can also enjoy local brews, including the special limited release of Blind Squirrel, an American wheat pale ale brewed with coriander and sweet orange peel. This marks the first time Burnish Beer Company is canning Blind Squirrel, and it will be available exclusively both on tap and canned at the brewery for this event or until supplies last. BISM is designing labels for the cans, which will feature braille to celebrate accessibility and inclusion.

Proceeds from BISM on Tap TOO will directly support BISM’s summer youth programs in Salisbury. These vital programs provide blind and low-vision students with essential training, confidence-building activities, and hands-on learning experiences that foster independence and personal growth.

For the past four decades, BISM’s ITR division has offered programs and services that provide comprehensive life skills training for blind and low-vision individuals of all ages. Each training program focuses on critical areas such as braille, technology, home management, and travel to ensure participants have the skills necessary to achieve self-sufficiency and full participation in their communities.

Tickets for BISM on Tap TOO must be purchased in advance; there will be no day-of sales. General admission is free and includes access to live music, games, and festivities. A Pint Package is available for $25, which includes general admission, a commemorative BISM beer glass, and raffle tickets for a chance to win exciting prizes.
