The statistics for small businesses surviving their early years is daunting. According to data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, about 20% of small businesses fail in their first year, about 50% fail after five years and 70% fail in their 10th year.
Bloosurf, a local company that specializes in engineering, construction, and operation of IP networks, not only beat those odds by surviving, it’s thriving!
Operations Manager, Neil Stegman, explains, “We have a big expansion plan underway. We currently operate 12 towers in Worcester, Wicomico and Somerset counties. By the end of 2020 we will be operating close to 30 towers that will include Sussex and Dorchester counties.”
On February 25, 2020, Bloosurf staff, customers and representatives of the Salisbury Area Chamber of Commerce gathered for a ribbon cutting to celebrate Bloosurf’s tenth anniversary in business.
Bloosurf partners with local, State and federal governments to provide Very High-Speed Internet Access to remote and underserved communities. They also offer VoIP, Voice over IP, as an alternative to traditional phone service, which can be a cost-saving opportunity for businesses.
Stegman added, “We’re growing in a big way and looking forward to serving more people and making a big impact in the communities that we call home.”
