SALISBURY, MD—Dr. Darrell West, former director of Brown University’s Taubman Center for Public Policy, analyzes the U.S. standoff between progressives and conservatives in his new book Divided Politics, Divided Nation: Hyperconflict in the Trump Era.
He discusses the book 5:30 p.m. Monday, April 15, in the Great Hall of Salisbury University’s Holloway Hall.
In the book, from Brookings Institution Press, West argues that divisiveness in U.S. politics has become a tribalism that threatens to subvert democracy. He also issues a call to action for Americans to bridge their differences and work together to make a new way forward.
West is the founding director of Brookings’ Center for Technology Innovation and editor-in-chief of the institution’s TechTank technology policy e-publication. He also is the author of several other books, including Megachange: Economic Disruption, Political Upheaval and Social Strife in the 21st Century and Billionaires: Reflections on the Upper Crust.
Sponsored by the Political Science Department, admission to his presentation is free and the public is invited. Light refreshments will be served.
