SALISBURY, MD—For more than 40 years, Salisbury University alumnus Bruce Rogers ‘78 has been a business and community leader on the Lower Eastern Shore.

The Executive Advisory Council of Salisbury University’s Franklin P. Perdue School of Business recently recognized Rogers for his contributions to the region, presenting him with the Perdue Executive Advisory Council Leadership Award.

Rogers, retired president and CEO of the former Sherwood of Salisbury automotive group, earned SU’s Alumni Leadership Award in 2023. The award recognizes alumni who participate in the life of SU through personal involvement on leadership committees, association with the student body and engaging with fellow alumni, augmented by their enhancement to the University’s financial welfare.

A past chair of the Perdue School Executive Advisory Committee, he has been instrumental in the success of the school’s annual student Entrepreneurship Competitions and Philip E. and Carole R. Ratcliffe Foundation Shore Hatchery entrepreneurship competition. He also has served on the SU Foundation, Inc., board of directors and has spent countless hours connecting students and alumni to influential business leaders throughout the Eastern Shore.

In addition to his dedication to SU, Rogers has served on a number of local boards of directors, including those for the Community Foundation of the Eastern Shore; Calvin B. Taylor Bank; Wilmington Trust Company; Chesapeake Maritime Museum in St. Michaels, MD; and The Gunston School in Centreville, MD.

“Bruce’s connection to SU and our students has never wavered,” said Dr. Christy Weer, dean of the Perdue School. “His reputation as a lifelong alumni leader and commitment to supporting organizations on the Eastern Shore makes him incredibly deserving of this honor.”

The name of each year’s Perdue Executive Advisory Council Leadership Award winner is engraved on a plaque in the Perdue School. Each honoree also receives a commemorative award.
