As the cast and crew prepare for Friday’s opening night of the 20th anniversary production of the James M. Bennett High School Rock & Roll Revival, they will devote Thursday afternoon to entertaining and inspiring younger students from several Wicomico schools.
The 2018 Rock & Roll Revival has been in dress rehearsals in the James M. Bennett Auditorium since Sunday. The school performance on Thursday, Feb. 8 will be the first opportunity for the Rock & Roll Revival cast to perform this year’s slate of songs in front of a crowd. Many of the younger students in the audience will get to see what they themselves could be doing as singers, dancers, musicians or crew members someday as JMB students in Rock & Roll Revival.
For the school performance, Act 1 will be performed starting at 12:30 p.m., and Act 2 will begin at 2 p.m. Coming for one act or the other are students and staff from Prince Street Elementary, Pinehurst Elementary, Delmar Elementary, Mardela Middle and High, and Fruitland Intermediate School.
This year’s show theme is “My Generation,” with great songs from five decades of music. You’ll hear many songs you love and learn a little about the student performers in a show that clocks in at about two hours. New show directors this year are Dory and Bob Hayman.
Salisbury Mayor Jacob Day has declared that February is JMB Rock & Roll Revival Month in the City of Salisbury, in recognition of the show’s two decades of tradition and its stature as a school event that draws its audience from throughout the Lower Shore and beyond. More than 120 students are involved in the show, and many staff members also participate. Net proceeds benefit the JMB PTSA, which supports the entire school.
The 2018 James M. Bennett High School Rock & Roll Revival shows will be Feb. 9-10 at 7 p.m., Feb. 11 at 2 p.m., Feb. 15, 16 and 17 at 7 p.m., and Feb. 18 at 2 p.m. Tickets are $20 for all shows except Thursday, Feb. 15, which has $15 tickets.
Almost all shows sell out, so it’s best to secure your tickets quickly. Tickets are available at the Bank of Delmarva branch on Eastern Shore Drive, and online at https://jmbrockrollrevival.ticketleap.com/. (There is a small service fee for online ticket purchases.)
