Salisbury, MD – Visit Salisbury’s historic Poplar Hill Mansion for fun Halloween events this month.
Poplar Hill Mansion, which will be decorated for Halloween, will host a Halloween Party for adults only at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 27, and a family event, the Jack O’ Lantern Jubilee, on Saturday, Oct. 28, from noon-2 p.m.
“Our events offer the unique opportunity to celebrate Halloween at a real haunted house,” said Sarah Meyers, curator at Poplar Hill Mansion. “During the Halloween Party, we’ll have Delmarva Spirit Hunters conducting a paranormal investigation on the second floor, along with new games in the Ghoulish Game Room.”
The games include BOOllete, Trick or Treat Twenty-one, Wheel of Terror and Dreadful Drinko; no money is exchanged for the games. In addition to the chance to win a prize by playing the games, there will also be a prize awarded for best costume.
Paranormal expert Andy Nunez, author of the “Ghosts of the Eastern Shore” series, will also do storytelling.
There is a suggested donation of $5 per person; proceeds benefit the preservation of Poplar Hill Mansion.
The Jack O’Lantern Jubilee is a free event geared toward kids ages 3-10; children must be accompanied by an adult. There will be kids’ games with prizes, pumpkin painting and a kids’ costume parade with prizes. Hot dog meals will be available for $3.
On Saturday, Oct. 28, at 7 p.m., the Community Players of Salisbury will present “Edgar Allen Poe: Master of Terror” at Poplar Hill Mansion. Tickets are $10 per person, and the show is rated PG-13.
