Chamber to Host Celebration of Haitian Art

Painting from Celebration of Haitian Art

The Salisbury Area Chamber of Commerce will partner with the Haitian American Organization for the Advancement of Democracy (HAOAD) to host a “Celebration of Haitian Art” at the Chamber building August 16, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. The event will feature an array of pieces on display from artists and craftsmen from various regions of Haiti such as, La Vallée-de-Jacmel, Jacmel, Cayes Jacmel, Marigot, Belle-Anse, and Bainet.

The collaboration began when the Association of Mayors from the South East Side of Haiti (AMASE) visited Salisbury last May in hopes of developing new, positive relationships with the Chamber, City of Salisbury, and the Wicomico County Executive’s Office. During the visit, Pierre Medina, President and founder of the local chapter of HAODAD, served as the host and guide for AMASE, bringing them together with Chamber President and CEO, Bill Chambers.

As a result, the two entities will come together to host a lively gathering, commemorating their relationship and the artistic culture of Haiti.

The reception is free and open to the public, featuring libations and hors d’oeuvres. The Chamber is located at 144 East Main Street, in Salisbury. For more information, contact the Chamber at 410-749-0144 or chamber@salisburyarea.com.
