4 - Hidden Stories of Objects from the Chesapeake Bay Maritime

SALISBURY, MD—Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum Chief Curator Pete Lescher shares “hidden stories” of objects from the facility’s collection 6:30 p.m. Thursday, April 4, at Salisbury University’s Edward H. Nabb Resource Center for Delmarva History and Culture.

The center is located on the fourth floor of the Patricia R. Guerrieri Academic Commons.

From a 19th-century painting to 20th-century folk sculpture, research in archival and journalistic sources has uncovered surprising cultural connections, providing interpretive opportunities to collect these objects to broader themes in regional and American history. These include natural resources exploitation and conservation, the legacy of slavery and themes of national expansion.

Sponsored by the Nabb Center and History Department, admission is free and the public is invited. For more information call 410-543-6312 or visit the center’s website at www.salisbury.edu/libraries/nabb/about/index.aspx.
