Salisbury, MD – Mayor Jacob Day is pleased to announce that the City of Salisbury has hired Mike Dryden to head its Department of Field Operations after conducting a national search.
Dryden is currently the Chesapeake Bay Wetland Restoration Specialist for The Nature Conservancy (TNC). He has worked for TNC since 2013, and prior to that, worked for the Maryland Department of Agriculture, with a total of 17 years in public service. Dryden brings both a strong, extensive knowledge base and a history of building partnerships that will support the City’s future goals. He has a strong commitment to communication, morale-building and leadership development at all levels of the organization.
“As we enter an era where resiliency, stormwater, and climate change are issues that cannot be ignored, Mike will be able to ensure that the Field Operations Department is in a forward leaning position,” said City Administrator Julia Glanz. “His 17 years of experience in land and wetland restoration will bring an unmatched level of expertise to this department.”
“As a longtime resident of the city of Salisbury and Wicomico County, I am excited to be joining the City of Salisbury as the new Director of Field Operations,” said Dryden. “Our community has witnessed a considerable amount of progress in recent years, and I look forward to working with the team to continue those efforts and future projects.”
The Department of Field Operations is comprised of eight teams and over 50 full-time employees. These teams include Fleet, Marina, Parking, Parks, Sanitation, Signals and Lighting, Special Projects, and Streets. Commonly known as Public Works in many jurisdictions, this department is tasked with ensuring Salisbury is welcoming and inviting to residents and visitors alike.
“We are lucky to have Mike join our already strong and focused leadership team in bringing one of our busiest departments to the next level,” said Mayor Day. “I have every confidence in Mike to lead the Department of Field Operations into the future.”
Dryden’s first day on the job will be February 13.
