CAMBRIDGE (February 18, 2019) – Coastal Hospice announced the opening of a new office location in Cambridge, continuing with its long history of serving residents of Dorchester County. Located at 216 Dorchester Avenue, the office serves as a central hub for a team of dedicated healthcare professionals that includes nurses, social workers, aides, spiritual and bereavement counselors, as well as volunteers that specifically serve Dorchester County.
“Striving to enhance care has driven us to increase our presence in Cambridge. Our new office will help us strengthen our services and increase our accessibility. It provides greater opportunities to educate patients, families, and the community about hospice services,” said Alane Capen, President of Coastal Hospice.
Coastal Hospice officially became the sole hospice provider in Dorchester County in 1997 and served 130 patients in the area last year. The Dorchester Chamber of Commerce and Coastal Hospice hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony at the new location on February 4. Mayor Victoria Jackson-Stanley greeted the crowd of over 50 as she welcomed the organization and guests.
“It warms my heart to have Coastal Hospice here in Dorchester,” Jackson-Stanley said. “Having hospice staff right here will be such a wonderful service to our community. There comes a point in everyone’s life where extra help is needed at the end. Coastal Hospice is here for all of us.”
Founded in 1980, Coastal Hospice is a nonprofit health care organization that cares for individuals facing life-limiting conditions but who want to remain as active and engaged as possible. Coastal Hospice cares for patients in their home, nursing home, assisted living facility or at Coastal Hospice at the Lake, and serves the four Lower Shore counties.
